1:1 Online Lessons

Talent doesn’t exist.Or at least, not the way it was sold to you.
It’s not a magic gift that some people have and others don’t.
Along my path as a teacher, I’ve come across two realities that repeat over and over:
- Almost everyone who learns double bass on their own goes through the same thing: they don’t lack material. There are thousands of videos on social media. What they lack is direction. They practice a lot, going in circles, without knowing whether what they’re playing today has anything to do with their goal.
- When an institution boxes you into a preset program, it takes years before the basic principles finally click. You get stuck on information that wasn’t designed to help you.
There are two kinds of double bass teachers: the really good ones, and the ones who slot you into their favorite method book. “Starting today, you’re going to study _____” (Simandl, Billè, whichever they prefer…).
And progressively, you’ll get bored and spend months, years, trying to move from one position to the next.
Until finally, in the year 2078 (or later, I don’t know when you’re reading this), you make it to thumb position.
If that’s what you’re looking for, this isn’t the place.
In the first lesson, I get to know your journey and your goals with the instrument, your current level, and the time you actually have. With that, I put together your study plan and give it to you as a PDF.
Why do I go to that trouble, if I could just tell you in the lesson?
Because if, after the first lesson, we decide we’re not right for each other, I still want you to leave with something useful. A clear path. With me, or with whatever teacher you choose.
You can do it too. And that shouldn’t depend on us continuing together.
And if we continue? I don’t disappear between lessons. You write to me when a question has you stuck. That’s what I’m here for. Just don’t expect an instant reply (I have a career to look after too).
The cost? The first lesson is €70. That’s where I get to know you, and you leave with a map made to measure, by someone who knows the terrain. Whether we continue or not.
If you decide to continue, each lesson is €60.
Lessons last an hour — sometimes longer, depending on what we’re working on. Fair warning.
Once we set the date by email, we meet by video call on FaceTime or Google Meet.
I open 1:1 spots by season, when my orchestra schedule allows. If the button is active, there’s room. If not, you can subscribe to my newsletter: I always announce when lessons and programs open their doors.
What’s included
1:1 Online Lessons
The first lesson
€70
If you decide to continue, each lesson is €60.
- A first lesson to get to know you and listen to you, as long as it needs to be.
- Your study plan and repertoire made to measure, as a PDF.
- One-hour lessons — sometimes longer — on FaceTime or Google Meet.
- You write to me between lessons when a question has you stuck.
PS
In this first session, you leave with a clear guide on how to move forward, and I’ll find repertoire that fits your level, your goals, and your musical taste. I give you everything as a PDF. It’s my gift — my way of making sure your progress doesn’t depend only on me.
PS2
The first session lasts as long as it needs to. What does that mean? It’s always more than an hour, so clear your calendar: I need to get to know you and listen to you so I can build a good study map for you.
